Project 1: Form and Function
Expression of Truth/Beauty
This project examines the relationship of form and function in architectural design. It encourages the awareness of truth, whatever position the designer takes, and promotes the arbitrary aesthetic of “functional” beauty. This project also examines the method and process of idea generation through conceptual combination.
Project 2: Contextual Fit
Analysis & Design of Adding On
This is a project that focuses on the fit of three-dimensional massing and ordering systems as the design generator in the context of existing forms and three-dimensional systems. The project explores the diagrammatic analysis of existing systems and patterns and the idea of integrated fit into an existing order that also highlights new patterns and values.
Project 3: Light
Form & Order Maker
This project explores the use of research techniques and conceptual sketch model building to test and formulate design ideas. The role of defining the public space and façade are emphasized. The conflict between the natural environment and build context and the resolution of these two competing patterns are used.
