PRECEDENT RESEARCH

An architectural precedent study exploring three projects focusing on waterfront integration, site-specific geometry, and the design of dynamic civic spaces: Halmstad City Library, Greenpoint Public Library, and Changxing Island Visitor Center.

  • Halmstad City Library (Halmstad, Sweden) | Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects — Features a curved glass form extending directly over the riverbank, demonstrating how a combined library and café program can use adjacent water bodies to create immersive interior reading environments.

  • Greenpoint Public Library (Brooklyn, New York) | Marble Fairbanks Architects — Illustrates urban site integration through stacked outdoor programming, linking interior spaces with activated reading gardens, green roofs, and street-level plazas.

  • Changxing Island Visitor Center (Shanghai, China) | Shuishi Design — Demonstrates site-specific architecture through a building massing that follows the natural curve of the shoreline, maintaining continuous visual connection with the lake.
